We have a keen interest in playing an active role in
community development and social responsibility. To
this end, Team Swift is embarking on a one-of-a-kind
education campaign awareness and borne rise to the
2019 Ride for Autism.
We aim to cycle 1000 km from Kasane to Gaborone
to raise awareness and education on this spectrum
disorder. Some might think this an impossible feat,
but for the cause we aim to be a voice for- we would
do no less than going to what may seem like extreme
lengths to raise awareness.
Riders will be on the road for a total of six (6) days.
They will be stopping over in a different city/town/
village every day along the cycle challenge route. It is
envisioned that by the of the six (6) days of the Ride, a
great deal of success at raising awareness on Autism
and prompting the necessary discussions around it;
will be achieved. Moreover, proceeds which have been
collected from donations and other support streams
will have accumulated and prepared for donation to
the relevant identified Autism supporting entities.
Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers
to a broad range of conditions characterised by
challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviours,
speech and nonverbal communication. There is a
need to raise awareness on autism in Botswana, we
believe raising awareness on the condition, will have
the benefit of creating harmonious and compassionate
communities, who understand the challenges faced
by their neighbours. It is also envisioned that the Ride
will create such exposure, that more opportunities are
created for the support of people living with autism.
